What if we came together to imagine, and show, a future where humanity gets it right?
We’re forming an aligned group of thinkers, creators, and systems visionaries to collaborate on an entry into the Future Vision XPRIZE, a global challenge to create a 3-minute sci-fi trailer depicting an optimistic, abundant future for humanity.
The opportunity: a $3.5M+ XPRIZE competition to create an optimistic sci-fi film, with the winning concept funded into a full-length production.
This is not just a film.
It’s a signal that could scale.
We’re inviting those who feel called to help shape this vision, from concept to narrative to visual language, to join us in co-creating something both grounded and visionary.
Our approach is rooted in BEAM(ing), a process of sensing into a future we know is possible and bringing it into the present through imagination, coherence, and design. Rather than predicting the future, we inhabit it and create from there.
This invitation is emerging from the Design Science Studio. Design Science Studio is a (r)Evolutionary cultural and educational incubator, ecosystem and community of practice for creators catalyzing regenerative futures that work for ALL of life.
To date the DSS in collaboration with the Buckminister Fuller Institute has been encouraging 450+ creatives worldwide throughout the Design Science Decade, 2020-2030, by nurturing their capacity to imagine and create equitable and just protopian futures, because the future is always first an idea.
We have been awaiting this very moment, this invitation to collaborate on the world’s largest sci-fi film competition. To create a 3-minute sci-fi trailer depicting an optimistic, abundant future for humanity.
We are coming together to develop a focused entry that reflects a future grounded in coherence, equity, and possibility. Others are naturally free to create in parallel in whatever way feels aligned to them.

Announcing the METATRENDS Future Vision XPRIZE with a grand prize of $2.6M+
In 1966, a science fiction show changed the world.
Not because of its ratings (it was nearly cancelled after two seasons). Not because of its special effects (laughable by today’s standards). But because it inspired a generation of scientists and engineers, and offered people HOPE about the future.
Competition Summary
The Future Vision XPRIZE invites filmmakers and storytellers worldwide to create trailers or short films that portray a hopeful, compelling and optimistic, technology-forward vision of humanity's future.
