Change Happens
The shift has hit the fan...
I’ve been sitting intimately with change. An introduction made many years ago when someone uttered in earshot, “the only thing that remains constant is change.”
Of late its Leah Lamb’s invitation to sit with change, with her perspectives of change in her upcoming project, “The Little Book of Change” has me illustrating many of the concepts within.
Saddled-up with the Buckminster Fuller Institute and Design Science Studio over the years has drawn my attention to many ideas of Bucky. His notion of change was well documented in his quote, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
These words have inspired many to work towards a healthier future… but the question of who’s future, what change, has come front of mind.
This morning change caught my attention and suggested there are more perspectives to change than we can count. That’s when it became clear that we never imagined 2025 would be so inspired by Bucky but absconded by the con outweighing the pro.
Things are heating up. Its how we notice change. Experiencing the differences from what was, or imagining what might be. Seeking signs, looking for fireweed.
As I sat by the edge of flowing thoughts, cooled by the shade of deeply rooted elder trees, Whychus Creek whispered the noticing right in front of my eyes…
