Welcome to Mark’s Myth by Mark Smith
My noogenesis started years ago and have since manifest into a multitude of mediums capturing my reflections in story, poetry, photography, paintings, drawings, sculpture, low-res handmade animations and other artifacts of pondering.
The eleprocon chronicles started as a paper journal in 1979 capturing glimpses of a future I knew would be possible. A future where in the beginning of the 70’s, inspired by R. Buckminster Fuller, Co-Evolution Quarterly and The Whole Earth Catalog introduced us to our potential and tools to venture there.
This was the future I was growing into.
With the birth of the ecology movement we were re-attuning to a future living in harmony with our ecosystem. A future where we ended wars, tended to social imbalances, and where the emerging telecommunications and personal computer technologies would connect us in new ways illuminating humanities co-creative path forward.
In 1981 Bucky provided us a mantra in his book Critical Path… "It is now highly feasible to take care of everybody on Earth at a 'higher standard of living than any have ever known.' It no longer has to be you or me. Selfishness is unnecessary and henceforth unrationalizable as mandated by survival... It is a matter of converting the high technology from weaponry to livingry.”
Fast forward from 1970’s to now, and ummm… can’t say these ideals have matured fully yet. But they are maturing. I sense that in you all.
I can say that in my journey I have learned to believe in each generation’s wisdom of adding to the next’s.
This is somehow the story I’ve become entwined in over the decades.
Your stories… our emerging mythOS.
With that in mind I am sharing with you for the first time, in this form, scenes from the last fairytale…
